D228 Golfers Receive Full Ride to College

Bremen High School District 228 is proud to announce a total of five Evans Scholars this school year! Scholars come from Bremen and Oak Forest High Schools.

The Evans Scholarship is valued at more than $125,000 over a four-year period. District 228 students are among a total of 70 recipients of the scholarship, which includes a full housing and tuition grant.

Christopher Smith and Madison Levsay of Oak Forest HS, and Nelly Yspango, of Bremen HS, will start college in the 2023 fall season. Morgan Nielsen and Katherine Everitt of Oak Forest HS will plan on the spring of 2024.

The Evans Scholars program is supported by the Western Golf Association, headquartered in Glenview, Ill. The Scholars program is well-known as one of golf’s favorite charities, and for caddies, it is the largest scholarship program in existence. The program was founded by a famous Chicago amateur golfer, Charles “Chick” Evans Jr.

To be eligible, judges looked for students who demonstrated excellence in the classroom, on the golf course, and in their communities, according to WGA Chairman Joe Desch.

Bremen High School District 228 is located in the southwest suburbs of Chicago and serves the communities of Midlothian, Posen, Tinley Park, Markham, Hazel Crest, Country Club Hills and Oak Forest.
